Business Credit Reports
Business Credit Reports are vital in monitoring the status of your business credit. The vendors will report credit history on your business reports. Similar to the consumer credit side, different vendors manage and provide business credit scores. FICO, Dun & Bradstreet, Experian and Equifax are the key agencies that report business credit history. This information allows lenders to evaluate your credit worthiness when applying for business credit options.
If you are a newly formed business you won’t have a score since there are no records for your company in the system. However, if you’ve been in business for some time, and have worked with vendors in the past, you may have a score.
The business credit report vendors are not required to provide a free credit report, which is different from the personal credit vendors. For a fee, Dun & Bradstreet, Equifax, and Experian will provide you with a copy of your business credit report.
You can get free access to your Experian and Dun & Bradstreet reports through Nav, a company that helps business owners build and manage their credit. The free option will only show you the letter rating for your company. They also have a paid option which shows the numerical score for your business.
